Habitica is a free habit-building app that turns your real-life to-do list into a role-playing game - check off tasks to earn gold, XP and random loot drops while levelling up your avatar.

If you’ve used Habitica for a while, you know the drill. Every completed task has a chance to drop loot, and most of the time it’s eggs and hatching potions. Combine an egg with the right potion and you get a pet. Feed that pet enough and it eventually grows into a mount you can ride around.

The catch? Hatching is painfully one-at-a-time. Over months of habit tracking, my inventory quietly turned into a small hoard - dozens of eggs, dozens of potions, and a growing list of pets I kept meaning to hatch but never quite got around to. Opening Habitica to hatch them one by one - click the egg, hit hatch, pick a potion, confirm, and repeat for the next one - felt like the opposite of the “play your life” energy Habitica is supposed to give you.

So I did what I always do when something feels too fiddly: I built myself a little tool. Meet the Habitica Egg Hatcher.

See the whole board at a glance

The first thing that sold me was the matrix. Load your inventory and you get a grid - hatching potions down the side, eggs across the top. Every cell tells you something useful at a glance: a green check for pets you already own, a muted cell for combos that don’t exist, and a plus sign for everything you can actually hatch right now.

Suddenly the whole “which combos can I still hatch?” question answers itself. No more clicking into each egg inside the app to figure out what’s possible.

It does the clicking for you

My favourite part is that it respects your actual inventory. The tool knows exactly how many eggs and potions you own, so it won’t let you select more than you can spend - and the “Select All” button simply fills in everything that’s hatchable. No wasted eggs, no accidental over-selection.

Then you click Hatch, confirm the number, and it works through the list for you. It stays polite to Habitica’s rate limits, and here’s the clever bit - after each round it double-checks your real inventory to make sure each pet actually hatched, and automatically retries anything that didn’t. You can watch the results land right on the cells.

Private, and painless

Like the rest of the Feather Tools, this one runs entirely in your browser. You paste your API User ID and API Token once from Habitica’s Settings / Site Data page, and the tool talks to Habitica directly. Nothing gets stored on a server and there’s no account to create - your Habitica data stays yours.

The payoff

The first time I ran it, I watched a whole shelf of my pet collection fill in at once. Combos I’d been saving up for, all hatched in a single go, ready to start feeding into mounts. It took a chore I’d been avoiding for weeks and turned it into a two-minute click-through.
